Working together

These are the general terms for front-end development work with me, plus a plain-language note about what this website collects. Every project also gets its own written proposal — if anything there conflicts with this page, the proposal wins.

Who you are working with

This site and the services described on it are offered by Natasha Pierre-Louis, an independent front-end developer. “I” and “me” mean Natasha Pierre-Louis; “you” means the client or prospective client.

What I do

I provide front-end development services: building and improving websites and web applications, fixing bugs, improving performance, accessibility work, WordPress front-end customization, and related work. The exact scope of any project is defined in the written proposal for that project, not by the package descriptions on this site.

I do not provide legal, financial, or accessibility-compliance certification. Accessibility work aims to meet WCAG 2.1 AA and I will tell you what I found and what I changed, but I cannot guarantee that a site will be free of all accessibility issues or immune from complaints.

Quotes and pricing

The package prices on this site are starting points for typical projects of that size. Final pricing depends on scope and is confirmed in writing before work begins. Prices on this site may change at any time; a price quoted to you in a proposal is held for the period stated in that proposal.

Payment

  • A 50% deposit is required to schedule most projects. Your start date is reserved once the deposit clears.
  • Once work has begun, payments for completed work are non-refundable.
  • Final payment is due before delivery of final files or site access.
  • Revision rounds are included as outlined in your package or proposal. Additional revisions outside that scope are billed at $80 per hour.
  • Payments are processed by third-party providers. I do not receive or store your full card details.

Invoices unpaid more than 14 days past their due date may pause work on your project.

What I need from you

Projects run on time when content and feedback arrive on time. You are responsible for providing the content, images, brand assets, and access (hosting, repository, CMS) needed to do the work, and for making sure you have the rights to everything you send me. Delays in providing these will move the delivery date.

Timelines

Delivery estimates assume timely feedback and complete content. They are estimates, not guarantees. If the scope changes mid-project, we will agree on a revised timeline and cost in writing before continuing.

Cancellations and refunds

  • If you cancel before work begins, your deposit is refunded according to the terms in your project agreement.
  • If you cancel after work has begun, completed work is billable and is not refunded.
  • There are no refunds after final delivery and sign-off.
  • I may decline or end a project if it falls outside my scope or if the working relationship is not workable. If I end a project without cause, you will be refunded for work not yet completed.

Ownership of the work

On final payment, ownership of the final deliverables created specifically for your project transfers to you. Until final payment, I retain ownership.

This transfer does not cover third-party components — open-source libraries, frameworks, fonts, plugins, stock images, and similar — which remain under their own licenses. It also does not cover my own general-purpose tools, snippets, and techniques, which I keep the right to reuse.

Showing the work

Unless you ask me not to, I may show the completed work in my portfolio and describe my role in it. If your project is confidential, tell me and I will leave it out.

Third-party services

Projects often rely on services I do not control — hosting, domain registrars, payment processors, plugins, analytics, and similar. Their availability, pricing, and terms are their own. I am not responsible for outages, changes, or costs from third-party services, though I will help you work through problems where I can.

Confidentiality

I will keep non-public information you share with me confidential and use it only for your project. I am happy to sign your NDA if you have one.

Warranties and liability

I will fix defects in my own work that you report within 30 days of final delivery, at no charge. Beyond that, work is provided as-is, and my total liability for any claim relating to a project is limited to the amount you paid me for that project. I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost data.

Changes to these terms

I may update this page as my services change. The version in effect when your proposal is signed is the version that applies to your project.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Privacy

This site is deliberately light on data collection.

  • The contact form. When you send a message, the name, email address, and message you type are submitted to a Google Apps Script endpoint and recorded in a private Google spreadsheet I control. I use that information only to reply to you and to keep a record of the enquiry.
  • Booking a consult. The booking links go to Google Calendar appointment scheduling. Anything you enter there is handled by Google under Google’s privacy policy.
  • Payments. Deposits and invoices are handled by a third-party payment processor. I never see or store your full card details.
  • Your theme preference is stored in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers light or dark mode. It never leaves your device.
  • No advertising or tracking cookies are set by this site.

I do not sell or share your information. I keep enquiries for as long as they are useful for follow-up and record-keeping. If you would like your message and details deleted, ask me and I will remove them.
